ChatterBee's Chat Help
1. How do I shut up an annoying or disrepectful chatter?
It's easy. The best way to deal with a chatter who is annoying you, using profanity or otherwise bothering you is to use the Ignore button. Using the Ignore button will cause the chatter's comments to no longer appear in your chat room window. By using the Ignore button, you single-handedly censor the chatter so that his or her comments cannot have any effect on you.

To use the Ignore button, click the chatter's name in the left window and then click the Ignore button.

2. How do I start a private chat with another chatter?
In the left-hand window, click the name of the person with whom you want to chat in private. Then, click the Private button. A new window will open where you and the person you selected can chat in private. Note that private chats are NOT monitored by administrators.

3. How do I prevent other chatters from asking me to join them in private chat?
1. On the chat room's toolbar, click the Control Panel button (it has the little gear)
2. In the Control Panel window, the Settings tab.
3. Put a checkmark in the Block All Private option.
4. Return to the chat room and continue chatting.

For the rest of your chat session, no one will be able to private message you in ChatterBee's Chat.

4. How do I create a my own chat room in ChatterBee's Chat?
1. On the chat room's toolbar, click the Control Panel button (it has the little gear).
2. In the Control Panel window, click the Create tab.
3. Select either Public Room or Hidden Room (we recommend choosing Public Room).
4. Type a name for the room in Enter Room Name.
5. Click Create.

Your new room will appear in the ChatterBee's Chat main chat window. You can invite other to join your new room by clicking the Rooms button in the ChatterBee's Chat main chat room.

5. How do I get someone's attention if they're not chatting?
Use the sound button (the button with the musical note) on the ChatterBee's Chat tool bar to make a sound that will get their attention. Note that you may need to send the sound more than once.

6. How do I fix a technical problem that I'm having with the chat room?
In most cases, if you just close and re-open your web browser and then log in to ChatterBee's Chat again, most problems will just go away. If you have a problem that cannot be solved in that way, you should send an e-mail message to ChatterBee's. To send us an e-mail message, use the Contact Us link on our home page. Be sure to include in your message a good explanation of the problem that you were having with the chat room.

7. How do I speed up the typing rate in ChatterBee's Chat?
If you find that typing a message in ChatterBee's Chat is slow, then your computer may be running too many programs at once. To speed up the typing rate, close down any other programs that you are not using (such as Microsoft Word, AIM, MSN, games, and so on) -- but keep ChatterBee's Chat running. If you close down everything except ChatterBee's Chat, you should notice an increase in typing speed in the ChatterBee's Chat window.

8. How do I change fonts, window colors, and other things in the chat room?
Click the Control Panel button (the one with the little gear in it) to go to all of the options that control the colors, fonts, and other configurable features in ChatterBee's Chat.

9. My Windows computer keeps disconnecting from the chat room. How do I fix this?
It may help if you tweak your Windows upload/download settings. To tweak those settings follow these instructions:

1.  Click the Start button (on the lower left of your Windows screen).
2.  Select Settings.
3.  Click Control Panel.
4.  In Control Panel, double-click System.
5.  Click the Hardware tab.
6.  Click the Device Manager button.
7.  Click the plus sign (+) next to the Modems option. Your modem's name will
appear just beneath the Modem options.
8.  Double-click your modem's name. The properties box for your modem will appear.
9.  Click the Advanced tab.
10. Click the Advanced Port Settings button.
11. Make sure that there is a check mark next to Use FIFO buffers (requires 16550
       compatible UART)
.
12. Slide the Transmit Buffer slide so that it is ONE notch less than the setting for
the Receive Buffer setting. That is, your Transmit Buffer setting should be one
notch to the left of the setting for the Receive Buffer.
13. Click the OK button to save your new settings.

Now, make your way out of Windows and restart your computer. Hopefully, when you use the Internet the next time, your connection will be more stable than it was before.
